The Great Hall is the main dining room and provides an impressive yet intimate setting for breakfast
and dinner, as well as lunch at weekends. The room's centrepiece is a grand open fireplace. An imposing
barrel-vaulted ceiling, 17th century minstrels' gallery, heraldic friezes, suits of armour and polished
oak-panelled walls create a truly memorable atmosphere in which to dine.
The menu offers imaginative interpretations of authentic British dishes prepared using classical French
techniques. The Head Chef, Martin Blunos, won a coveted Michelin star in January 2005 for his innovative cooking. Many of the ingredients are grown and reared locally, including plums from the hotel's own
orchards and a wide range of herbs. Originally designed to be a dining room in summer and a ballroom in
winter, The Great Hall offers a dramatic backdrop for any occasion.
